Riviera Maya wedding resorts

Ok, you got engaged and always dreamt about getting married in Mexico but you don’t know where to start. First of all breathe, as a past bride, believe me, everything will be alright.

Planning a destination wedding can sometimes be stressful but you have to trust your vendors. They are the experts!

Riviera Maya has tons of options for you but this time we are gonna talk about these 5 resorts. If your big day doesn’t align with a resort we also are gonna talk about private venues in a different post: Best wedding venues Riviera Maya

Are you ready?

Sandos Caracol Eco resort: This is located in Playa Del Carmen, if you are a nature lover this resort is for you, surrounded by the jungle and the ocean.

For your wedding, you have 3 different options, like the beautiful beach gazebo, the rooftop terrace, and/ or the cenote. The resort has more options for the reception if your guest count is big but honestly, these 3 that I mentioned before are my favorite and the most favourable photo-wise.

Dreams Natura:

We spent almost a week in this resort located in Cancun since this wedding was a 4-day event. There are so many places to celebrate your ceremony and your reception, perfect for a multi-day wedding.

Also, the in-house wedding planner made our couple’s dreams come true. So make sure to ask, they will deliver.

From the beach gazebo, beach terrace, indoor patio/garden, the pool, or even the spa that is a cave you will have plenty of places to choose from.

They even have a special room where you can get ready. From a photographer's perspective the light there isn’t that good, so maybe you can ask to get ready in another place.

Regarding the rooms, they have all sizes and types. For example, the couple’s room was on the top floor with an outdoor jacuzzi, amazing ocean views, and a perfect terrace.

For decoration, I know it depends on what you like and your budget, but it has been one of the best resorts decoration-wise that we have been to. It was modern and classy.

Thid wedding was its own blog post that you can read here.

Sandos Caracol Playacar:

I love that this resort has one section only for adults, so if your wedding is kids-free, this might be a good option for you.

It is also located in Playa del Carmen but in a different neighborhood than the eco-resort. This one is located at Playacar.

Inside the resort, you can find a variety of restaurants and places where you can spend your days, but for the big day itself, you can choose from a private garden, a cenote, and/or the beach.

I find this hotel to be bigger than the eco-resort, and they also have regular rooms and little casitas in a “private section”.

Ocean Riviera Paradise:

This is a cool and modern resort in Riviera Maya (between Cancun and Playa del Carmen). What I really loved about this resort was that they have some rooms with immediate access to the pool. So I’m sure you and your guests can have a really good time here.

For the wedding we had at this hotel, they decided to do the ceremony on the rooftop terrace and then the reception on another terrace they have but this one is at the beach. A really lovely place, surrounded by palm trees on one side and the ocean on the other.

They also have a gazebo, a ballroom, and the beach itself for hosting weddings.

Puerto aventuras Hotel and Beach club:

Maybe Puerto Aventuras isn’t as popular as Playa Del Carmen or Cancun. It’s a small secluded town in Riviera Maya.

This one is your typical oasis in the Caribbean, but you have to keep in mind that it is a small hotel.

The town has a beautiful multi-use center that can be utilized as a church you can get married at the beach in the hotel or on the terrace they have.

Also, just a quick drive away, you can find archeological ruins to visit and do some photography as well.

We also have a specific blog post for Moon Palace resort if you want it to swing by.

The first 4 resorts are all-inclusive. All of them are perfect for weekend weddings. You can also do so many activities with all your guests outside the resort, go to all the parks, and have some real authentic tacos, aguachile, ceviche, etc.

Remember the resorts have a fee if you want to bring outside photographers and videographers, usually, they charge around $1000. If you want to save that money the best is to book a room for your photographer and videographer that way they waive the fee. That way you’ll save money in a multi-day wedding.

If you are in Playa del Carmen go to 5th Avenue. There is another town named Akumal, where you can swim with turtles.

So yeah, the Riviera Maya has it all, if you want more reccos from Mexicans, please feel free to ask, we are here to help you have your dream wedding and the perfect activities for your guests!

If you want to get married in Riviera Maya, don’t hesitate and say hello!
Can't wait to hear from you!
