Mayan wedding in the middle of Tulum’s jungle

Lately, many couples are betting on more intimate weddings and investing in design, taking care of the aesthetics, and making it a whole experience.

So imagine you are exchanging your vows in the middle of the jungle with the birds chirping, the wind blowing and the trees dancing to the sound of love.

The right place to do it is Tulum it is a no-brainer for an elopement or a destination wedding.

This elopement was a Mayan ceremony that is more of a symbolic ceremony because it doesn’t have a legal value, it is more of a spiritual union. The couple establishes their love among the four elements: earth, water, fire, and air, to provide good energy, harmony, and success in their marriage.

Usually, Mayan weddings should take place in nature, meaning it could be in an archaeological site, a lagoon, a cenote, a beach, or in hidden caves. This ceremony is guided by a Shaman, the person who is in total connection with the universe and the Mayan worldview.

As fire is essential to this ritual, flowers, copal (aromatic resin), incense, and cinnamon are burned in a bonfire during the ceremony.

The bride tried to pay homage to the land with this handmade dress, the feathers represented the fauna or Tulum, same with her handcrafted hairpiece that evokes the Flora.

For the groom, he is wearing a linen suit that is inspired by a Guayabera, also known as “camisa de Yucatán” traditionally worn in white and pastels. Mexican guayaberas often use complicated embroidery.

Now with 2 airports, one in Cancun and one in Tulum, it is so easy to arrive at this paradise. Tulum has this boho-chic vibe but also can be so glamorous and has a really good nightlife, different than Cancun or Playa Del Carmen so it truly makes the perfect spot to say” I do”.
